Get Ready for an Exciting Season: MLB Reveals the 2025 Spring Training Schedule

Spring training for the 2025 MLB season is to officially begin on February 20th, 2025. On this date, the Los Angeles Dodgers will host the Chicago Cubs to kick off the Cactus League season. On February 21st, the New York Yankees will host the Tampa Bay Rays to open the Grapefruit League season. The 2025 season promises to showcase some intense matchups and new rivalries.

Spring Breakout

Spring Breakout made its debut last spring and will be held again between March 13th and 16th in 2025. This is when clubs get their top prospects together to play in exhibition games. Some of the games will include the Rays against the Boston Red Socks in Port Charlotte, Florida, and the Dodgers against the Cubs in Glendale, Arizona. The Seattle Mariners will also play against the Cleveland Guardians in Goodyear, Arizona.

After participating in the March Spring Breakout last year, 95 of the players appeared in the Majors. This included 25 players who were featured on MLB Pipeline’s top 100 prospect list. Rosters for the Arizona Fall League could include a few players who feature in Spring Breakout in 2025.

Any matchups between historic MLB teams like the Dodgers and the Cubs are always intense. Americans love to bet on sports, and wagering on MLB games is very popular.

Other matchups in March

On March 24th and 25th, the Atlanta Braves will play two games against the Chicago Cubs in Mesa, Arizona. This match is a crossover between Grapefruit League and Cactus League clubs. The Colorado Rockies will play against the Minnesota Twins in another crossover match in Fort Myers, Florida. Several exhibition games will also take place at Major and Minor League baseball parks.

Baseball players are always kept very busy with matches as the season gets going. You may wonder what baseball players do in their free time. It may be surprising to know that many of them like to keep their competitive edge sharp while not on the field by playing video games.

Regular season – important dates

The 2025 regular season will start with the Tokyo Series. It is a two-game series between the Cubs and Dodgers at the Tokyo Dome that will take place on March 18th plus 19th. Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers is one of the top MLB stars. However, the Dodgers are likely to be careful about bringing him back after his second elbow surgery. Even if he does pitch, it’s likely to be a short outing. A matchup between Ohtani and Cubs Starter Shota Imanaga would be interesting. This is the sixth time the MLB will play the opening game in Japan.

The traditional Opening Day that features all 30 of the Major League Clubs takes place on March 27th. This is the earliest opening day in MLB history.

Rivalry week

Rivalry Week will take place from May 16th to May 18th. The MLB is increasing the number of games rival sides will play. Interleague rivals will play two three-game series against one another. Eleven of the 15 matchups will be between prime interleague rivals. Some region-based matchups are also included.

All-Star Game

The 2025 MLB All-Star Game will take place on July 15th. The American League (AL) all-stars will face off against the National League (NL) all-stars at Truist in Atlanta. This All-Star Game hosted By the Atlanta Braves will be the 95th edition of the Midsummer Classic.

Final day

The final day of the regular season will be on September 28th. On this day, there will be eight divisional matchups to watch.
